LC new student orientations exceed expectations

(Laredo, Texas)-This summer, Laredo College welcomed hundreds of students over the span of the numerous orientations held at both campuses. It was a wonderful sight to behold as students walked through the halls of LC, meeting new friends and getting ready to take on the next chapter of their lives.
LC Student Life Director Pedro Rivera said that a goal of seeing a thousand students was established before the start of the orientations. He proudly expressed that the combined efforts of multiple college departments ultimately resulted in the college breaking that goal with approximately 1,200 new Palominos completing this important first step to get a small taste of their college journey.
The excitement of exceeding the goal by 20% was doubled as he saw those same students, donning their green LC shirts, once again walk through the LC grounds toward their classes.
“Tapping into the sense of pride that one has for Laredo College is vital for the culture I want to share throughout the community,” Rivera said.
“People seeing the LC green throughout the city may say ‘hey, maybe one day I should attend Laredo College’ and that is the type of culture I want to nurture at the college.”
He attributed the overwhelming success of each orientation to all those who helped in its
organization and execution. Student organizations, staff and faculty were always attentive and
ensured that everyone was ready for their first day of class.
