August Proclaimed as Overdose Awareness Month in Laredo

Laredo, Texas – The City of Laredo in conjunction with Webb County have proclaimed August as Overdose Awareness Month. The proclamation ceremony took place today at the Laredo Fire Department Administration Building. In partnership with organizations such as Myke’s Purpose, SCAN, and Pillar Strong, the City will raise awareness of overdose, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, and promote accessible, quality mental health, and substance abuse addiction care for adults and youth.
During this day, the community is encouraged to wear purple clothing or a ribbon in memory of a family member or friend who suffered due to drug overdose or to offer condolences to those who experienced the loss of a loved one.
