Ricardo Jimenez Found Guilty Sentenced to 50 years

(Laredo, Texas)-The Webb and Zapata District Attorney’s Office reports that a jury sitting in the 341st District Court found Ricardo Jimenez guilty of Sexual abuse of a child/continuous victim under 14 years old. On February 6, 2014, the Webb County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a woman wanting to file a sexual abuse report.
An investigation was launched by the Sheriff’s Department, Child Advocacy Center and the District Attorney’s Office which revealed that a child by the name of “Maria” had been sexually assaulted by a man she knew.
The child outcried that she had been abused since she was six years old by Jimenez. During a voluntary interview with law enforcement, Jimenez denied all allegations. The trial, which took place before the 341st District Court Judge Rebecca Palomo, was presented to a jury over the course of three days and rendered their guilty verdict after 6 hours of deliberation.
After finding Ricardo Jimenez guilty, the jury assessed the punishment of fifty years to serve in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institution Division. Assistant District Attorneys Kassandra De Hoyos, Christina Rodriguez and Jesus Vigil prosecuted the case for the State.
