City of Laredo Celebrated a Splash Pad Groundbreaking Ceremony

LAREDO, TX— The City of Laredo, Mayor Pro-Tempore Vanessa Perez, District 4 Council Member, Alberto Torres Jr., and District 5 Council Member, Ruben Gutierrez Jr., hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for a splash pad on Arturo Benavides Memorial Park, located at 2607 Derby Dr. on Thursday, April 13, 2023. This event was part of the National Community Development Week festivities.
“This area has been designated and identified as an area that requires investment and that is why the Community Development was able to designate almost 3 hundred thousand dollars to make this project a reality”, said Council Member Alberto Torres Jr.
The Arturo Benavides Splash Pad was partially funded thru the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for a total of $273,448 and $623,132 funded through the council member’s district priority funds. The project includes the design, construction, and other amenities to improve the park for public use, and it will be finished by October 2023.
