City of Laredo Statement on Employee Fatality

Laredo, Texas – On Thursday, February 23, 2023, a City employee was involved in an accident at the Jefferson Water Treatment Plant. The 52-year-old employee was working on a ladder inside an empty tank when he fell down 30-35 feet. Employees rendered aid while paramedics arrived. At their arrival, paramedics then quickly initiated cardiac life support and crews were able to extract the employee out of the tank and transported the employee to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Police Department is investigating the incident and post-incident City policies are currently being implemented.
“The City expresses its deepest condolences to the family as a result of this tragic accident and will assist them during this difficult time,” said City Manager, Joe Neeb.
