City Delegation to Advocate for Funding, Policies During Legislative Trip

LAREDO, TX— Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino, members of the Laredo City Council, city staff and the private sector were in Austin this week to ask for funding and support on projects that will benefit Laredo.

Some of those projects include assessment of ethylene oxide emissions; air quality monitoring; substance use and mental health programs, health professional shortage area and medically underserved area designations; and state incentive programs to attract foreign investment & promote inner-city redevelopment.

The Laredo delegation has approximately 25 planned meetings with the following elected officials and state entities

Elected officials:

– Representative Richard P. Raymond

– Representative Tracy O. King

-Representative Ryan Guillen

– Office of the Lt. Governor

– Executive Director of Department of Public Safety Colonel Steve McCraw

– Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Interim Executive Director Erin Chancellor / Executive Team

State entities:

– Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs

– Texas Department of State Health Services

– Texas Health and Human Services Commission

– Economic Development Office

– Texas Workforce Commission

-Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

-Texas Water Development Board

– Texas Historical Commission

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023 the Laredo Day Reception was held at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel, Capitol Ballroom. During the reception, Mayor Dr. Trevino welcomed senators and state representatives as well as guests from the Washington Birthday Celebration Association and the private sector.
