Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) voted to pass H.R. 7776, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This year’s NDAA authorizes $847.3 billion in spending for national defense in FY23.

“This year, we witnessed major disruptions to the American global supply chain and growing aggressions from China and Russia. I voted for the FY23 NDAA to secure the United States’ global independence and military superiority,” said Congressman Cuellar. “The FY23 NDAA includes a 4.6% pay increase for service members, major investments in science and technology innovation, investments in the American domestic semiconductor industry, and expansion of the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act to firefighters in the military, among other major items. This year marks the 62nd consecutive year that the NDAA has passed, and rightfully so. It is crucial now more than ever that the United States bolsters its defense to counter unprecedented challenges both domestic and abroad. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, I will continue to support our military and prioritize American national security.”

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is an annual law specifying the budget and expenditures for the U.S. Department of Defense. This year’s passage of the FY23 NDAA marks the 62nd consecutive year that Congress has passed the NDAA.

The FY23 NDAA includes a discretionary topline budget of approximately $847.3 billion.
