Rep. Cuellar to Serve as Chief Deputy Whip in the 118th Congress

Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced he will serve as Chief Deputy Whip in the 118th Congress under incoming Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. Congressman Cuellar released the following statement in regard to his appointment:
“I want to thank incoming Democratic Whip Katherine Clark for providing me with this great leadership opportunity. It is an honor and a privilege to serve under new leadership and deliver for the American people.
“Although we maintained a Senate majority and a Democratic president, it is critical we continue to find common ground and pass sensible legislation that keeps our families safe, creates jobs, and spurs innovation. The American people are depending on us in Congress to deliver results and keep our country moving forward.
“I remain steadfast in my commitment to working under the new Whip team and with my fellow colleagues to build consensus on the ever-changing issues facing our nation.”
As Chief Deputy Whip, Congressman Cuellar will be responsible for mobilizing votes within the party on major issues.
