Quinta Mazatlán’s ILLUMINA Fest Lights up the Holiday Season

(McAllen, Texas)-With the holiday season here, Quinta Mazatlán’s ILLUMINA Fest is back for five nights, running from December 13 to 17, 2022 with timed entrances from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Over 3,000 luminarias will light the forest trails of the urban nature sanctuary, located at 300 Sunset drive. Luminarias are a southern tradition dating back to the 1500s.

Thanks to Spaw Glass, ILLUMINA Fest title sponsor, guests will enjoy fire and LED performances by Danta Colmenares and Aerialists by Sam’s Personal Studio. DJ Queen Killah Bee will welcome everyone to the fun and festive event outdoors, so attendees should dress for the weather.

Over thirty light installations are featured along the half mile walk through the woods, highlighting the various winter celebrations including Christmas, Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, Kwanzaa, Diwali and more.

The word Luminaria means “festival lights” and traditionally, people lit small bonfires to welcome visitors over the holidays. At ILLUMINA Fest, Texas Regional Bank is inviting children of all ages to make and take-home “Wishing Luminaria Bags.”

The one-way illuminated trail guides visitors past light shows, art installations, community performers and holiday treats. The Food Courtyard will feature many local vendors with spirits ans drinks, hot chocolate, kettle corn, spicy candies, elote in a cup, candied pecans, cookies, s’mores and more holiday favorites.

The main stage will feature live performances throughout the week, including from Palmview High School Folklórico & Mariachi, South Texas Fuzion, McAllen Golden Larks, Indigo Collective, RGV Tuba Christmas, RGV Snake Charmers & Hype Squad, Deborah Case Dance Academy, Perez Elementary, 1st Position Dance Studio, Mariachi Nueva Tradición, 2C41 Musical Group, Razz Ma Tazz from Nikki Rowe High School, Main Stage Dance Studio, ADS Dance Academy, Viol Consort and more.

Tickets are limited and last year, the event sold-out , so everyone is encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible at www.quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com.
