Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at approximately 4:30 pm, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, along with D.E.A, investigated a residence on the 3900 block of Barcelona Avenue for being suspected of storing large number of narcotics

Investigators approached the residence and noticed a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside. Hector Jesus Martinez-Gomez, 25, was located inside the apartment and consented to investigators to search the apartment.

Investigators discovered narcotics that were packaged for street-level distribution and recovered 624.2 grams of cocaine, one pound of marijuana, and paraphernalia that included smoking pipes, scales, and plastic baggies. The cocaine was valued at $30,500, the marijuana at $2,500, and the crack cocaine at $650.

Martinez-Gomez was arrested for possession of controlled substance felony 1 and tampering with physical evidence felony 3. He was transported without bond to the Webb County Jail.

“I thank my group of investigators and the DEA for a job well done and for taking these drugs off our streets. These drugs could have very easily ended up in the wrong hands and poisoned our children,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “I remind the public to please help us rid our streets of drugs and to report any suspicious activities by calling 956-415-BUST (2878). You may be eligible for a cash reward.”
