Artwork selected to be featured on McAllen irrigation pipes
Keep McAllen Beautiful Inc. (KMB) is actively recruiting artists from McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley for a chance to have their work featured on standpipes in McAllen. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 16.
The initiative will promote a strong presence of public art and aims to give experienced artists an opportunity to represent McAllen’s agricultural history, as well as their sense of civic pride.
KMB will provide project materials, as well as a stipend to the artist. Possible themes include, but are not limited to: RGV Nature; McAllen history; culture in a realism; abstract; cubism; impressionism; or pop-art style. Artist’s themes must be deemed appropriate and must be designed to wrap around irrigation pipes.
Once selected, KMB will contact the chosen artists and an irrigation pipe will be assigned. Acceptance notification is September 30.
