(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD Superintendent of Schools, David H. Gonzalez, and his management cabinet hosted a collaborative meeting with Laredo ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sylvia Rios and her administrators.
State Representative Richard Raymond attended the meeting, while Representative Tracy King and Senator Judith Zaffirini attended via Zoom.
UISD and LISD came together to ask the state dignitaries to assist the districts with legislative issues ahead of the Texas Legislature House Committee meetings to be held in August.
The Superintendents and their cabinet members discussed various topics that directly affect the public school system. Among the concerns voiced were School Safety, Curriculum & Instruction, Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math (STEAM/STEM), Business & Finance, Federal Programs, and Human Resources.
UISD Superintendent David H. Gonzalez was very pleased with today’s meeting.
“It was a great opportunity for both school districts to voice their ideas and concerns pertaining to future legislation that will greatly impact our public schools. I truly appreciate the chance to provide meaningful input.
I want to thank Senator Zaffirini and Representatives Richard Raymond and Tracy King for allowing us to collaborate, so that we can provide our students with a safe environment and excellent educational opportunities.”
