UISD Police K9 Unit Hosts The 2022 NNDDA National Training Conference

(Laredo, Texas)-The NNDDA (National Narcotic Detector Dog Association) held a K9 Training and Competition in Laredo, Texas. The conference was hosted by United ISD Police K9 Unit and The Laredo Police Department from May 30th to June 3rd.

A total of 89 teams representing over 15 law enforcement agencies participated.

The majority of the training was held at the Bill Johnson Student Activity Center.

The Patrol Competition took place at Life downs, while the Narcotic Competition took place at Lifedowns Pavilion. Dr. Sandra Leyendecker (Laredo and USC Vet) spoke to the K9 Officers about the emergency treatment of fentanyl exposure and heat exhaustion.

The areas of training included; Police Service Dog, Explosive/Narcotic Detection, Situational Training, Tractor and Trailers Stops, Check Point Tours and Interdiction; Practical’s Hidden Compartment, School Rooms, Fentanyl, Masking, Large Loads Training, Vehicles, Large Finds.

“It was a true honor for us at United ISD Police and the Laredo Police Department to host this 2022 NNDDA Conference,” UISD k9 Handler Ben Bondoc said. “I would like to thank all individuals and departments who made this possible; it was a team effort,” he added.

We had a large turnout and a favorable reaction to UISD’s training facilities.
