The City of Laredo to Open the First-Ever Sensory Room

LAREDO, Texas— The City of Laredo, along with the Laredo Health Department and Council Member for District 7, Vanessa Perez, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Fasken Recreation Center Sensory Room on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 6:00 pm.
This sensory room is the first of its kind in Laredo. It will provide a space dedicated to sensory experiences explicitly designed to help individuals with special healthcare needs feel calm, supported, and focused.
A “Sensory Environment” provides areas with education and recreation opportunities, with therapeutic equipment such as weighted products, soft play equipment, bubble tubes, and interactive wall panels to create an immersive sensory experience.
