United South Magnet School World Trade Bridge Visit

(Laredo, Texas)-On May 3, 2022, seniors at the United South Magnet School for Global Business and Advance Technology visited the World Trade Bridge and were given an opportunity to make ‘Real World’ connections to theoretical concepts.
The visit was particularly noteworthy for students enrolled in Logistics and Distribution classes leading to a One-Semester certificate from Laredo College. During the visit, students had the privilege to interact with and listen to presentations from Customs and Border Protection Officers, and Agricultural Specialists. These professional men and women offered invaluable information about the nature of their work; and how our Magnet students can become members of the profession.
They shared personal experiences and encouraged our students to pursue certain areas of studies that may be well suited for jobs with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency.
This authentic learning experience could not have been possible without the support of CTE Director Angelica Sanchez, USHS Principal Adriana Ramirez, Magnet Dean Sinneh Koroma, and Logistics and Distribution Instructor Claudia Saenz who consistently look for such learning opportunities for our students.
