United ISD’s BlueCross/BlueShield Wellness Program Announces the Appointment of Two Wellness Program Positions

(Laredo, Texas)-United Independent School District Superintendent David H. Gonzalez announced Cordelia Rodriguez-Sarabia as the district’s new BCBS Wellness Coordinator and Alexis K. Garcia-Salazar as the Wellness Program Assistant.
United ISD’s Employee Wellness Program is funded by BlueCross/BlueShield (BCBS) and is geared toward guiding employees through making better overall health and wellness decisions. The Wellness Program focuses on healthier living through eating habits and exercise and ensures that employees understand that mental and financial aspects are crucial to one’s overall well-being.
Cordelia Rodriguez-Sarabia was appointed by BSBS as the district’s Wellness Program Coordinator. Ms. Sarabia has over ten years of experience in the health and physical education field. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Fitness & Sports with a minor in Health Education and a Master of Science in Curriculum & Instruction and Fitness & Sports from Texas A & M International University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Education in Adult Education & Leadership and plans to graduate in August of 2023.
Before joining BlueCross/BlueShield, Ms. Sarabia served as the Lifestyle Health Coach at Laredo Independent School District (LISD) and as an elementary physical educator. She is currently a Kinesiology Instructor at Laredo College and Texas A & M International University.
United ISD’s Wellness Program Assistant, Alexis K. Garcia-Salazar, has worked for the district since December of 2020. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Prior to working with United ISD, Ms. Salazar was employed with the Texas A & M International University Police Department as a Communications Officer in Training and with The Webb County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher.
