UISD Honors Teachers and Employees at Annual Awards Banquet

(Laredo, Texas)-UISD’s 2021-2022 Employee Awards Banquet was hosted at Elias Herrera Middle School and featured entertainment by the Elias Herrera Middle School Jazz Band under the direction of Jorge Garcia. Highlights of the evening included awards for Teachers Of The Year, Paraprofessional Employees of The Year, and Auxiliary Employees Of The Year. Each winner was presented with an award from the Board of Trustees and Superintendent of Schools David H. Gonzalez.
Congratulations to Leah Angelee Luna from Juarez-Lincoln Elementary School (District-Wide Elementary School Teacher of the Year), and Melissa Gignac from Lyndon B. Johnson High School (District-Wide Secondary School Teacher of The Year). Both teachers will receive $1200.00 gas cards courtesy of the Powell Watson Auto Group. In addition, District-Wide Paraprofessional Employee of the Year Martha Cardenas from Kennedy-Zapata Elementary school, and District-Wide Auxiliary Employee of The Year Leonel Garza from United High School will each receive $500.00 gift cards from Ashley’s Furniture Home Store.
