(Laredo, Texas)-Attending school every day paid off for Cecilia Rodriguez of United High School, who won a brand new 2022 Kia Soul. The announcement was made in front of a live audience on May 27 at the Sames Auto Arena, just before the United South High School graduation ceremony.
Launched in August 2013, the Sames “Kia in the Klassroom” Program encourages high school students to attend school every day. Each time a student had perfect attendance for at least one nine-week period, they were given a special voucher to drop off at the Sames Kia dealership which was entered into the drawing for the free car.
A total of 16 semi-finalists, four from each high school, were selected for the final phase of the give-a-way. These students include: Santiago Chapa, Sebastian Molina, Daniel Reyes, Jesus Marina, from Alexander high School. Tomas Garcia Tolentino, Jared Guel, Matthew Olivarez, Luis Gaytan, from Johnson High School. Joshua J. Cruz Espada, Kris Vazquez, Cecilia Rodriguez, Alexa Lopez, from United High School. Gael Tellez, Matthew Garza, Vanessa Covarrubias, Naomi Virrey, from United South High School.
The Laredo Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the tax, title, and license for the vehicle. Additionally, a driver’s education package will be donated to the winner by A&K World Class Driving School. Finally, three finalists will be awarded free Chick-fil-A for a year from the Chick-fil-A Marketplace on Loop 20 and Clark Blvd.
“Sames is honored to be a part of an initiative that promotes the value of daily school attendance and student success. We want to send the message that going to school every day and making the most of your education is the key to success,” said Sames Auto Group’s CFO, Evelyn Sames.
