Laredo, Texas – On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized a second booster dose of either Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna. The second booster vaccine has only been approved for specific groups at this time.
The second booster dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine may be administrated to individuals 50 years of age and older. The Pfizer vaccine may be administrated to individuals 12 years of age with certain immunocompromised diseases at least four months after receiving their first booster dose. The Moderna vaccine may be administered to individuals 18 years of age with certain immunocompromised conditions at least four months after receiving their first booster dose.
Today’s news applies only to the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. This action will now make a second booster dose available to those individuals eligible for a total of a four-dose vaccination series. It is essential for all individuals to stay up to date with their COVID-19 vaccine series to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
The City of Laredo Health Department and National Guard will provide the second booster dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the Laredo Health Department, our Mobile Health Clinic, and all locations hosted by the National Guard.
