LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at Laredo Port of Entry this weekend apprehended two men wanted in connection with outstanding felony arrest warrants for alleged crimes of a sexual nature in two separate incidents.

“Our frontline officers continue to maintain strict vigilance and these two significant apprehensions of wanted persons for crimes of a sexual nature underscore their continued resolve and dedication to upholding the CBP border security mission,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.

On March 26, 2022, CBP officers at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a 2004 Chevy Silverado driven by John Anthony Meza, 20, a U.S. citizen for a secondary examination. Once in secondary, biometric verification confirmed his identity along with an active arrest warrant for sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony, from Taylor County Sheriff’s Office in Abilene, Texas. CBP officers transported Meza to Webb County jail.

Earlier that day, CBP officers at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge processing bus passengers encountered Dahir Jaimes Benitez, 19, a U.S. citizen with a possible outstanding arrest warrant. Once in secondary, CBP officers utilizing biometric verification confirmed his identity along with the active felony arrest warrant for sodomy from Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in Fairfax, Va.
