Laredo, Texas (Webb County) — On Wednesday, February 2, at approximately 5 pm, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Mitsubishi Lancer at the intersection of Pecan Street and Martin Avenue in south Laredo.
The traffic stop led to the seizure of 22.7 lbs. of marijuana, worth an estimated $6,900, and the arrest of a Mexican national and a juvenile. Josue Tonches Lopez, 19, was charged with possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, and interfering with public duties. He was remanded to the Webb County Jail. The juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana and was sent to the Webb County Youth Village.
“I congratulate my deputies for a job well done and for their keen interest in ensuring the safety of our community. This marijuana could have very easily ended in the hands of our children,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “I remind the community to please report any suspicious activities by calling our hotline at 956-415-BUST (2878). You may be eligible for a cash reward.”
