United ISD Parents Attend December 2021 U.C.O.P. Meeting

(Laredo, Texas)-Recently, United ISD’s Federal & State Programs Department hosted their second United Council of Parents (UCOP), meeting of the year on December 1 at the SAC. The topic of “Parenting and Mental Health” was addressed by United ISD Licensed Professional Counselor Elizabeth Gardner.
Traditionally, parenting involves a happy medium of discipline and support for one’s children. Gardner summarized ways that parents and caregivers can bring more balance to how they parent and manage the stresses associated with the responsibility of preparing children for life as happy and productive adults. Ms. Gardner also provided parents with resources and strategies to help manage mental health.
The district’s U.C.O.P. meetings are held throughout the school year, and all topics of discussion are designed to increase parental involvement with children at home and at school.
