(Laredo, Texas)-Los Obispos Middle School wrapped up its first semester with a celebration that started with chilly encounters for Principal Olga Cantu, Assistant Principal Guadalupe Serrano, and Counselor Brenda Cognata. Much to the delight of students, the valiant trio endured a Polar Plunge and thorough drenching to raise funds for Special Olympics.
The morning schedule also included the campus’ first Sports Health Fest. “Our local Children’s Advocacy Center provided a health education booth and gave our students care bears and health-related literature.
Overall, this health fest is meant to encourage our students to incorporate exercise into their daily schedules. Hopefully, today’s volleyball, basketball, and non-contact football tournaments will entice them to try a new sport”, said Cantu. Shortly after the tournaments, LOMS coaches honored the campus’ outstanding athletes and concluded with a teacher vs. students volleyball game.
