(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD’s Johnson High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) Chapter signed their official Charter and became an official national Chapter. This is a two-year process that includes a leadership workshop as part of a 15-step requirement.
The Johnson High School FFA Chapter began three years ago with only 60 members, and today they are a proud chapter of over 150 members. “It is our mission as an FFA Chapter to continue to work towards growing leaders, strengthening our community, and supporting our local agriculture industry,” said Agriculture Teacher Adalberto Nava. He added, “It has been an absolute pleasure to be a part of this process, and I am extremely proud of our chapter members’ efforts and accomplishments.”
“I’m glad I didn’t lose sight of our ultimate goal, and today we celebrate our perseverance and hard work as an official chapter,” said Selikka Flores. Flores is the Chapter’s President and began her mission as a freshman three years ago. She advocated with her peers and school administration because Johnson High School did not have an FFA program.
“FFA allows students to learn about an area of agriculture that interests them and then gain hands-on experience in that field,” said Armando Salazar, Johnson High School Principal.
New chapters are introduced at the Texas FFA Association’s annual convention, held from early to mid-July. Congratulations, Johnson High School FFA.
