(Laredo, Texas)-Congratulations to Kayla Patricia Martinez, a United High School graduate who won first place and received a $2,000.00 Spirit of Laredo Scholarship. Martinez will be attending Texas A&M University this fall to pursue a degree in Visualization.
The Chamber’s Education Committee’s “Spirit of Laredo” program, which began in 2019, awarded scholarships to three entrepreneurial high school graduates. Students from local public and private high schools competed for the prize by using their creative communication skills. Winners of the competition won scholarships of $2,000, $1,000, and $500 for first, second and third prizes. The scholarships are funded by the Laredo Chamber Education Committee with support of Killam Development, Ltd.
The Spirit of Laredo scholarship goal of the Chamber is to provide financial opportunities for interested graduating students while also instilling a sense of community pride in young adults.
