City, County Confirm No New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have NO new confirmed deaths related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that our counselors and teams are available to support them.

Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 08, 2021, a total of: 356,652 people have been tested; 44,719 have resulted positive; 111 are estimated active (7/02/21: 98; 7/03/21: 81; 7/04/21: 78; 7/05/21: 78; 7/06/21: 83; 7/07/21: 85).

Below is a breakdown of Active Cases:

Of the 111 actives:

• 20 cases are below the age of 19

• 80 cases are between the ages 20-49

• 11 cases are above the age of 50

• 81 cases (73%) are not vaccinated

• 30 cases are detainees from one of the detention/holding centers

• 3 cases are vaccine breakthrough

43,761 are estimated recovered (7/02/21: 43,668; 7/03/21: 43,698; 7/04/21: 43,713; 7/05/21: 43,725; 7/06/21: 43,741; 7/07/21: 43,751); 19 are currently hospitalized; 16 of those in the COVID ICU Unit. The hospitalization rate is at 4.33% as of 7/05/21 (6/30/21: 3.94%; 7/01/21: 3.58%; 7/02/21: 4.42%; 7/03/21: 3.24%; 7/04/21: 3.63%; 7/05/21: 4.33%) and 847 people have died.

Vaccine Statistics:

First Doses Administered: 183,343 (84.91%)
Fully Vaccinated: 153,565 (71.12%)
65+ Pop. who have received a vaccine: 24,844 (92.28%)
In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publicly releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19, results or monitoring.

Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:

Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available
Wear a mask or face covering
Avoid touching your face
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Stay home when you are sick
Cover all coughs and sneezes
Clean frequently-touched surfaces
