Traffic stop by Webb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Leads to Cash Seizure

Laredo, TX (Webb County) – On Sunday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies stopped a vehicle at the 20 mile marker of Interstate Highway 35 southbound for a traffic violation.
After speaking to the driver, a search of the vehicle was conducted, where deputies discovered two bundles of what was suspected to be illicit monies. The money was wrapped and hidden inside the vehicle, indicative of drug trafficking.
A total of $22,000 dollars were seized. The driver, Mario Borjas, 43, was detained for questioning and after further investigation, Borjas was arrested for money laundering and was transported to the Webb County Jail. He was released on a $7,000 bond.
