(Laredo, Texas)-In a further indication of its commitment to a traditional Fall experience, incoming TAMIU freshman students will get to experience their first glimpse at campus life during TAMIU’s annual Dusty Camp, offered in-person and on-campus.
Dusty Camp, or New Student Orientation, provides a unique experience helping incoming students transition from high school to University life. Throughout the two-day experience, students become familiarized with the campus and can opt to take part in an overnight stay at the Residential Learning Center. Dusty Camp helps answer questions first-year students may have about financial aid, housing, academic expectations, and student involvement through a series of activities led by Orientation Leaders (OLs). OLs are current University students who are active members of the University community.
This is the first in-person Dusty Camp experience since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic. While students were presented with the opportunity to take part in a virtual experience, an overwhelming number wanted an in-person Dusty Camp. Approximately 200 students have registered for Dusty Camp!
Subsequent Dusty Camp sessions are scheduled throughout July and August. An additional Dusty Camp experience is available to Transfer and International students.
