City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have TWO new confirmed death in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.
The 836th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his mid-50’s. He died on Monday, May 10, 2021.
The 837th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early-70’s. He died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021.
Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.
As of 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021, a total of: 341,676 people have been tested; 44,047 have resulted positive (5/13/21: 44,027); 91 are estimated active (5/13/21: 98); 43,119 persons are estimated recovered (5/13/21: 43,093); 12 are currently hospitalized (6 of which are in the ICU); hospitalization rate is at 2.54% for 5/12/21 (5/11/21: 2.66%) and 837 people have died.
Vaccine Statistics:
First Doses Administered: 149,238 (75.79%)
Fully Vaccinated: 113, 430 (57.60%)
65+ population who have received a vaccine: 23,621 (84.65%)

· Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing
· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available
· Wear a mask or face covering

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick
· Stay home when you are sick
· Cover all coughs and sneezes
· Clean frequently-touched surfaces
