TAMIU Student Earns National Gaming Title

(Laredo, Texas)-As the eSports industry quickly surges as one of the fastest-growing professional sports industries in the world, one Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) student is making his mark in the gaming industry among collegiate gamers throughout the world.
Ivan Larumbe, a junior Kinesiology major at TAMIU, recently took the title of the NIRSA eSports Tournament Champion. During the three-day tournament, held April 8 – 10, Larumbe competed in the Rocket League 1v1 (or one versus one player) Rec Division.
The virtual tournament included 233 students representing 48 institutions from across the U.S. and Canada. Gamers played from either their PCs at home or their respective universities.
