Incentive Offered, City of McAllen to Host 1st Does COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic


Free incentive offered courtesy of IMAS to all newly vaccinated this day No pre-registration required; 2,000 Moderna vaccine doses available to all eligible 18 years old and up

(McAllen, Texas)-City of McAllen officials, in conjunction with the McAllen Independent School District, Hidalgo County and Texas National Guard, will be hosting a first dose COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Friday, April 30 at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Boulevard. There are 2,000 first dose Moderna vaccines available and the clinic will run from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until all supplies are exhausted. Additionally, those vaccinated on this day will receive free museum admission, thanks to the International Museum of Arts & Science.

This is first come, first serve clinic and NO pre-registering will be required for any individuals who are eligible to receive the Moderna vaccine under State of Texas guidelines.

Anyone who receives their first or second vaccine shot at the McAllen Convention Center on Friday, April 30, and shows a vaccination card with “MCC” will receive free admission to IMAS, located at 1900 W. Nolana Avenue in McAllen, during the month of May. One person may visit as many times in May for free by showing their vaccination card with MCC.

“We hope this encourages those who need an incentive to get vaccinated,” said Ann Fortescue

President and Executive Director of IMAS.

However, in an effort to keep the vaccine clinic running more efficiently, all individuals are asked to head to the City of McAllen website and download the Hidalgo County registration documents, fill them out and bring them with them at the clinic. Please note the following updated entrance directions:

Entrance is through 29th St. and Col. Plummer Drive (Galveston Ave.) at light
Follow Col. Plummer Drive to the right to the west side of the McAllen Convention Center
Parking and entrance for the clinic will be on the west side of the McAllen Convention Center

Vaccines will be administered by Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department nurses and Texas National Guard.
