District 4 Council Member Inaugurates Park in Honor of Cynthia Collazo

LAREDO, TEXAS – The City of Laredo and District 4 Council Member, Alberto Torres, Jr., are proud to inaugurate the Cynthia Collazo Park on Friday, April 23, 2021. This is one of many projects that were paused due to health restrictions to protect the community from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The park was renamed from “Maryland Toddler Park” to “Cynthia Collazo Park” in honor of the former Deputy City Manager. Aside from inaugurating the newly developed park, the celebration also honored Ms. Collazo’s 41 years of service to the City of Laredo
. During his remarks, Council Member Torres described her as compassionate, patient, and resilient and attributed her success to her mentorship and relationship with City staff. Others, who gave remarks, included Deputy City Manager, Rosario Cabello; LISD Board President, Hector “Tito” Garcia”; and daughter of the honoree, Melina Bermudez.
