LAREDO, Texas—  The City of Laredo and Webb County reunited at City Hall Council Chambers to proclaim the month of April as National Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Laredo, Texas. Hosted by the Laredo Animal Care Services Department and led by District 4 Council Member, Alberto Torres, Jr., this proclamation brought together representatives of the Laredo-Webb County Animal Cruelty Task Force. The message throughout the event focused on creating awareness of the crime that is committed by someone that abuses or neglects any animal, including house pets and livestock.

Likewise, elected officials and representatives of the various law enforcement agencies concurred that all citizens must be responsible for the well-being of dogs, cats, and other animals under their care. Furthermore, it is of the utmost importance to report any witnessed cruelty or abuse against animals, whichever the circumstances, as these actions are considered a crime, and the law will be enforced. As proclaimed, the City of Laredo believes it is necessary to advocate for the prevention of cruel treatment of innocent animals
