City of Laredo Advances to Stage 3 in the Re-Opening Process

Laredo, TEXAS –On Monday, March 29, 2021, the Laredo City Council voted to move forward with stage 3 of re-opening city facilities. As previously presented by City Manager, Robert A. Eads, opening buildings and activities in City property by stages, were part of a plan to adhere to localized health guidelines, having COVID-19 data as a reference.

See below for openings that will take effect next week.

City Buildings

The following buildings will be open to the public beginning Tuesday, April 6, 2021:

· City Hall

· City Hall Annex

· Building and Planning

Residents will be able to make in-person tax and utilities payments at City Hall and City Hall Annex.

Sports Leagues

To comply with City ordinances, all leagues will need to provide the following information to the Parks & Recreation Department prior to scheduling games:

· Issued Temporary License Agreement (Thursday, April 1, 2021)

· Agreements with all necessary documents

· City Managers’ signature and legal approval

· Walk thru with league presidents on all fields that will be used

If all requirements are met, the Parks & Recreation Department will contact the presidents of the leagues to begin the process, which can take up to two weeks and leagues can possibly begin by April 19, 2021.

Aquatics

Beginning Monday, April 5, 2021 Reverend Deacon Leonel & Irma San Miguel Pool and Inner City pool will open for water aerobics and lap swimming during select times. Additionally, the Independence Hills Pool will be open Saturdays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for recreational swimming.

· Splash pads will also open Monday, April 5, 2021.

· Capacity will be capped at 50% at all times, until further notice.

Online Registration for pool session will open on Wednesday, March 31 at https://laredoparksandrec.com .
