City, County Confirm Two New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo and Webb County have TWO new confirmed deaths (since Friday, April 2, 202) in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families of those who have lost a loved one through this pandemic and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.

The 828th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late-60’s. She died on Friday, April 9, 2021.

The 829th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late-40’s. She died on Monday, April 5, 2021.

Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, a total of: 325,290 people have been tested; 43,407 have resulted positive (4/10/21 43,380; 4/11/21 43,390) 109 are estimated active (4/10/21 107; 4/11/21 111); 42,469 persons are estimated recovered(4/10/21 42,445; 4/11/2142,451) ; 6 are currently hospitalized (4 of which are in the ICU), hospitalization rate is at 1.19% (4/8/21 3.13%; 4/9/21 1.18%) and 829 people have died.

Vaccine Statistics:

First Doses Administered: 110, 393 (56.06%)

Fully Vaccinated: 67,089 (34.07%)

65+ population who have received a vaccine: 20,958 (75.10%)

In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publicly releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19, results or monitoring.

Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:

Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available
Wear a mask or face covering
Avoid touching your face
Avoid close contact with people who are sick
Stay home when you are sick
Cover all coughs and sneezes
Clean frequently-touched surfaces
