George Washington Middle School Students Participate in Read Across America Day and Creative Activities

(Laredo, Texas)-George Washington Middle School (GWMS), celebrated National Read Across America Day by giving students an opportunity to compete in the campus’ annual Book Character Build-A-Potato Contest. National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2, and is a National Education Association initiative that encourages students to develop a lifelong love of reading. Students at GWMS were also provided with a Makerspace Choice-board, which was filled with activities they could do at home.
The winners of the Makerspace activities art contest used the Pixilart website to create their drawings. All activities were directed by GWMS librarian Laura Gonzalez-Ortiz.
