Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit seizes 71 pounds of marijuana

Laredo, Texas – Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies, while attempting to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Taylor Street and Marcella Avenue, were led on a chase that ended up with the confiscation of 71 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a local man.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Manuel Garcia, Jr, 20, refused to stop and a chase ensued, ending at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge.
Garcia exited the vehicle and attempted to flee to Mexico, but was apprehended by Customs and Border Protection officials.
Three bundles of marijuana, weighing 71 pounds with an estimated street value of $21,300, were discovered inside the white SUV.
Garcia was charged with possession of marijuana, felony 2, evading arrest with a motor vehicle, felony 3, reckless driving, and evading arrest. He was remanded to the Webb County Jail with a combined bond of $39,000.
The investigation continues.
