District 5 Council Member Recognizes Completed Art Mural

LAREDO, Texas – Council Member for District 5, Ruben Gutierrez, would like to recognize the hard work put into the newest art mural located at the Joe A. Guerra Public Library. Gutierrez also congratulates the mural artist, Abel Gonzalez, for the completion of this project and the passion he put behind it. The mural recognizes Hispanic writers who have had a big influence in Latino culture. The portrayed writers include:
Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz
Miguel de Cervantes
Gabriel García Márquez
Isabel Allende
Sandra Cisneros
Rudolfo Anaya
“Mr. Gonzalez did an incredible job with this project, which was initiated by my predecessor,” states Council Member Gutierrez. “It is important to have an appreciation for the arts, and I will ensure District 5 continues to do so by collaborating with local artists to represent our beautiful city and culture through meaningful pieces, such as this one.”
