City of Laredo to Roll Out Second Dose Vaccination Plan for TAMIU Recipients

LAREDO, Texas – The City of Laredo announces a plan to administer the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to those who received the first dose during the TAMIU drive-thru event in early January. It will be a 5-day operation, which the Laredo Health Department and community volunteers will start by scheduling 705 recipients a day to get their second dose. The event will only administer the Moderna vaccine, which per the Texas Department of State Health Services, a second dose can be administered on day 28 after the first dose.

The City of Laredo Health Department collected contact information from all 3,520 individuals during the TAMIU drive-thru event. Vaccine recipients should expect an appointment confirmation via email. For those who did not provide an email address, they should expect a phone call from the Laredo Health Department to set up a their appointment.

Important event details include:

· Vaccine administration dates: Monday, January 25 through Friday, January 29, 2021

· Time: 9:00 a.m – 5:00 p.m.

· Location: Sames Auto Arena, 6700 Arena Blvd, Laredo, TX 78041

· All recipients must bring their COVID-19 Vaccination Record card (physical card provided at the TAMIU drive-thru event)

The City of Laredo Health Department is also in communication with Laredo Emergency Room to effectively allocate the second dose of vaccines for this event.
