LAREDO, Texas— The City of Laredo Building Development Services Department would like to provide a friendly reminder to the community that all political signs must be removed within 14 days after their respective election.
According to Ordinance 2017-O-044, sign postings that relate to the election of a person to a public office, a political party, or a matter to be voted upon at an election must be removed within 14 days after that election has concluded. It is the responsibility of the sign owner to take down such signs in a timely manner after the election. Failure to do so may result in a fine. PLEASE NOTE: This requirement does not apply to political signs relating to an ongoing run-off election.
For questions regarding this matter, contact the City of Laredo Building Development Services Department at (956) 794-1625.
Section 5405.3 of the State Outdoor Advertising Act exempts the placing of Temporary Political Signs from normal outdoor advertising display requirements.
