Keep McAllen Beautiful Announces Holiday Home Lights Contest 2020

(McAllen, Texas)-The Holiday Home Lights contest, sponsored by Keep McAllen Beautiful, is an opportunity for residents to show off their holiday spirit and decorating skills to help beautify and illuminate the McAllen landscape by lighting up their McAllen home.
“I really love Christmas and one of my favorite traditions is driving around town and looking at all the beautiful holiday lights and decorations,” said McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. “Whether those decorations are religious or traditional, whether homes use white lights or multi-colored lights, or even if they use a simple wreath, this is a beautiful way to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. And this is a dazzling way to keep McAllen beautiful!”
Residents interested in competing in this year’s KMB’s Holiday Home Lights Contest should follow four simple steps to register to become a contestant – and possible winner.
Go all out on holiday home decorations;
Snap a picture of lights’ display;
Post the best picture on Keep McAllen Beautiful’s event page “Holiday Home Lights Contest 2020” on Facebook @KeepMcAllenBeautiful;
Send home address to KMB via private Facebook inbox message;
Be prepared to win!
Those interested in competing need to register by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. The registered home addresses will be featured on the Keep McAllen Beautiful social media sites, so that all residents can drive by and enjoy the beautiful decorations. Winners will be announced on Friday, December 18, 2019.
There are three ways to win the contest. One is by Keep McAllen Beautiful judges’ vote. Winners will also be chosen by Facebook likes; however, for likes to count as votes, accounts must like and follow the Keep McAllen Beautiful page. A third way to win is to earn an Honorable Mention distinction.
The best three homes selected will be awarded cash and prizes, including:
First Place will win $150, plus a holiday meal from Cracker Barrel; Second Place will win $100, plus a holiday meal from Cracker Barrell; and Third Place will win $80, plus a holiday meal from Cracker Barrel. The Cracker Barrell holiday meal serves 6-8 people and has an estimated value of $80. The prize must be picked up the week of Christmas.
