LAREDO, Texas— On October 19, 2020, Council approved the proposal of Aviation Facilities Company Management and American Triple I Partners to develop 75 acres of land at the Laredo International Airport. This new development will focus on building an aeronautical cargo complex facility. From the several parcels, some are vacant, others are greenfield sites and others could be developed from previous tenant operations.
Both companies anticipate the creation of projects that will facilitate cargo, logistics, and general aviation. The companies will develop four out of the seven properties that were put out for bids into new developments that will help with the growing number of cargo planes landing at Laredo International Airport.
“This multi-million dollar investment in our community will help our economic development and create numerous jobs in our community. We are excited to see what AFCO and ATI will do to help us achieve our goals with the Laredo International Airport and trade,” said City Manager Robert A. Eads.
Jeff Miller, Airport Director at Laredo International Airport, added “We look forward to working with the AFCO and ATI team on this important initiative, which will not only provide expansion opportunities for existing airport businesses but also bring new business and jobs to the airport”.
Currently, this project has no financial impact to the City of Laredo, and if required, the contract will be presented to City Council for approval on a later date.
