Webb County Sheriff’s Office traffic stop leads to 1.4 kilos of heroin

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Wednesday, September 16, at approximately 5:22 a.m. Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a black Ford F-150 truck at San Dario between Callaghan Street and Benavides Street.
Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies made contact with the driver who was later identified as Javier Hernandez, 67. Deputies searched the vehicle with K-9 assistance and discovered a tool box that was not properly secured. Deputies pulled the toolbox away from the bed and located a suspicious looking multicolored wrapped package.
Subsequently, the multicolored package was opened and tested positive for heroin. The package weighed 1.4 kilos with an estimated street value of $25,000. Hernandez was charged for possession of a controlled substance, Felony 1 and remanded to the Webb County Jail with no bond.
