LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry detained two men with outstanding warrants for sexual offenses. Both incidents occurred in separate, unrelated enforcement actions.

“CBP collaborates with agencies throughout the nation to bring perpetrators of sexual violence to justice,” said Acting Port Director Andrew Douglas, Laredo Port of Entry.

The first apprehension occurred on Sunday, September 20th at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge. A CBP officer processing vehicle traffic arriving from Mexico referred Sotero Campos Jr., a 20-year-old male United States citizen, for a secondary inspection. After escorting the passenger to secondary, subsequent biometric verification through law enforcement databases confirmed that the subject had an outstanding warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a minor out of Live Oak County in George West, Texas.

The second apprehension occurred on Monday, September 21st at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge when a CBP officer referred Andres Epifanio Guillen, a 40-year-old male United States citizen, for a secondary inspection. After escorting the passenger to secondary, CBP officers verified his identity and discovered he had an outstanding felony warrant for sexual assault – carnal abuse pursued by the Storm Lake Police Department in Iowa.

Both warrants were confirmed to be active. CBP officers transported the wanted fugitives to Webb County Jail in Laredo, Texas to await criminal proceedings.

Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
