Webb County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Stop Leads to Confiscation of Drugs and Weapons

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Tuesday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a white flatbed trailer on interstate Highway 35 near the 25-mile marker southbound.

After further investigation it was revealed that the trailer was stolen. The driver, James Dustyn Simmons, 38, was identified as a reported convicted felon. A further search by a K9 revealed a Smith and Wesson revolver 38 caliber and a 32 caliber pistol. He was also found in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms took custody of Simmons for federal prosecution. A warrant will be obtained for possession of stolen property on trailer.

“I congratulate our Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies for a job well done. This person is a felon who was in possession of drugs and weapons, and now he will be brought to justice. This is another great example of how we continue to keep our community safe and work alongside other law enforcement authorities,” said Sheriff Cuellar. “We will continue to fight crime and keep our community safe.
