LAREDO, Texas—The City of Laredo and Webb County have confirmed four more deaths in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.

The 233rd death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early 80s. She died on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

The 234th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early 60s. He died on Thursday, August 20, 2020.

The 235th death of a Webb County resident was a male in his late 80s. He died on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

The 236th death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late 50s. She died on Monday, August 24, 2020.

Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020, a total of 33,169 people have been tested, 10,434 have resulted positive (933 are active), 86 test results are pending, 9,416 persons have estimated recovered, 151 are currently hospitalized (60 of which are in the ICU), five patients are currently admitted at the alternate care site, and 236 have died.

In order to safeguard legally-protected information, the City of Laredo is not publically releasing personal or identifiable information regarding any cases as it relates to COVID-19 testing, results or monitoring.

Please continue to do your part in preventing the spread of all diseases. Follow the guidelines below:

· Follow CDC and WHO guidelines and practice physical distancing

· Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer can be used when soap and water are not readily available

· Wear a mask or face covering

· Avoid touching your face

· Avoid close contact with people who are sick

· Stay home when you’re sick

· Cover all coughs and sneezes

· Clean frequently-touched surfaces
