City, County Confirm New COVID-19 Related Deaths

LAREDO, Texas—The City of Laredo and Webb County have confirmed the 52nd, 53rd, 54th and 55th deaths in Webb County related to COVID-19. The City and County want to express their most sincere condolences to the families and want them to know that our counselors and our teams are available to support them.

The 52nd COVID-19 death of a Webb County resident was a female in her late 70s with underlying health conditions. The person died at her home on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

The 53rd COVID-19 death of a Webb County resident was a female in her early 90s with underlying health conditions. The person died at Laredo Medical Center on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

The 54th COVID-19 death of a Webb County resident was a male in his late 40s with underlying health conditions. The person died at Laredo Medical Center on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

The 55th COVID-19 death of a Webb County resident was a male in his early 50s with underlying health conditions. The person died at Laredo Medical Center on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

The City of Laredo Health Department continues to conduct contact investigation on persons who have tested positive to determine possible exposure to others. If the health department has not contacted you, there is no need to take any action at this time. If you feel ill, please contact your physician and monitor your symptoms.

Stay home if you are sick and call your doctor. Do not go to the doctor’s office, call your doctor first. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1.

As of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2020, a total of 13,380 people have been tested, 8,720 people have resulted negative, 3,574 have resulted positive (2,517 are active), 1,086 test results are pending, 1,002 persons have recovered, 162 are currently hospitalized (59 of which are in the ICU), and 55 have died.
