Laredo, TX (Webb County) – Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white tractor trailer in the Mines Road area for a traffic violation.
After receiving conflicting stories from the driver, identified as a 30-year-old Hispanic male, deputies asked the driver to provide proof of insurance and load documents. Barrera Morales stated he had not been given the load documents and said that he was headed to Georgia for a delivery.
After deputies searched the trailer, a K9 officer arrived at scene to conduct a non-intrusive K9 search. The K9 quickly alerted to the scent of narcotics by the trailer doors. After further inspection, several abnormalities were observed on the front end of the trailer.
A more thorough search revealed a total of 19 bundles wrapped in brown plastic adhesive were hidden inside the trailer. All 19 bundles, which contained heroin, crystal meth and pseudoepherine, were turned in to federal authorities for further investigation.
“This drug seizure shows that our deputies are highly trained to find drugs, no matter how creative the criminals try to get. I remind the public to report any suspicious activities by calling 956-415-BUST (2878). You can be eligible for a cash reward,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
