Laredo, TX (Webb County) – On Wednesday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop at the 22 mile marker IH-35 southbound. The vehicle, a white color Peterbilt tractor trailer, was driven by a male subject in his 40’s.
After noticing inconsistencies, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered U.S currency hidden behind a small refrigerator in the cab of the tractor. It was divided in two bundles and wrapped with rubber bands, a common way of packaging and transporting illegal proceeds. The total amount recovered was $14,450.
The subject was released and the case continues under investigation.
“I congratulate our deputies for taking a keen interest in getting illicit money off our streets. I remind the public to report any suspicious activities by calling 956-415-BUST (2878). You can be eligible for a cash reward,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
