Laredo, TX (Webb County) – On Saturday, Webb County Sheriff’s Office correctional officers intercepted two bags of cocaine, one with pills and plastic thin tube with what appeared to be black-tar heroin, which intended to make its way into the Webb County Jail.

During intake procedures, correctional officers observed Moises Moncivais, 35, nervous as they were preparing to place him on the body scanner. Officers intercepted two plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and one plastic baggie containing pills. Each of the baggies were wrapped individually, a known method that is often used by organized crime. Also found was a clear plastic thin tube containing a black substance.

Moncivais, who was initially brought in on possession of controlled substance, was subsequently arrested on additional possession of controlled substance inside a correctional facility. His total bond was set at $14,000.

“This interception shows that our correctional officers are highly trained to find drugs, no matter how creative the inmates try to get,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar. “It also shows that criminals can get very desperate to satisfy their addiction.”
